End of Week Reflection:

Carrying the Conversation Forward

This week provided an important opportunity to bring the work of SCORE into a broader conversation.

On January 28th, Dr. Tayari Kuanda recorded an interview with KVCR Public Media for Black Perspectives IE. The discussion focused on issues that are central to SCORE’s mission—education, equity, and the realities of systemic barriers.

Grounded in Experience

The conversation was rooted not only in theory, but in lived experience.

From navigating systemic racism to understanding the impact of social and economic inequality, the discussion reflected the very challenges SCORE was created to address.

As Dr. Kuanda shared during the interview:

“Race obviously matters, social class matters… those things are all intertwined.”

Why These Conversations Matter

At SCORE, we understand that real change begins with honest dialogue.

This week’s interview highlighted the importance of:

  • Addressing issues as interconnected systems
  • Equipping students and communities with knowledge
  • Recognizing the realities individuals face beyond the classroom

Education with Responsibility

One of the key takeaways from the conversation was the responsibility that comes with education.

“You have in front of you a captive audience… what you say to them, you are responsible for.”

This belief continues to shape SCORE’s work across:

  • Schools
  • Community programs
  • Educational initiatives

Looking Forward

As we move into the next phase of the year, SCORE remains committed to:

  • Expanding its reach
  • Deepening its impact
  • Supporting students and families
  • Continuing the work of equity and access

Closing Reflection

This week’s conversation was a reminder that while the challenges are complex, the work remains clear.

We continue forward—focused, intentional, and committed to making a difference.
