SCORE Interns Shine at Black Grad HD: Capturing Excellence, Celebrating Legacy

This past weekend, SCORE proudly brought a team of six interns to support and document one of the High Desert’s most important cultural celebrations: Black Grad HD 2025. Held at the Adelanto Plaza & Event Center, this annual event honors the academic achievements of Black students from across the region in a vibrant, community-centered pre-commencement ceremony.

From behind the cameras to the livestream control station, our intern team worked with professionalism, purpose, and passion—delivering top-tier media coverage for an event that means so much to so many.

A Media Crew with Purpose

Led by SCORE Founder and President Dr. Tayari Kuanda, our intern team of five returning media interns and one talented new addition handled filming, audio, interviews, and livestream coordination for the event. This included:

  • Full event documentation
  • Livestream broadcasting to social platforms and the OnWatch TV channel on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and VIDAA TV
  • Capturing emotional speeches, cultural performances, and graduate walk-ups
  • Providing real-time tech and camera support to ensure the celebration was broadcast flawlessly

Community Praise & Recognition

Attendees, community leaders, and families approached our interns throughout the event to express their gratitude and admiration for the quality of their work. One guest shared, “I wasn’t able to make it inside, but I watched everything through the stream and felt like I was still part of the celebration—thank you!”

Another parent told our team, “The way you captured the graduates on stage was perfect. These are memories we’ll always have now.”

Our interns didn’t just meet expectations—they exceeded them, delivering professional-level results while learning in real time.

Real-World Experience, Real-Life Impact

Events like Black Grad HD provide a powerful training ground for SCORE interns, many of whom are high school and college students preparing for careers in film, broadcasting, and media production. With every event they cover, they gain:

  • Hands-on experience with cameras, lighting, sound, and livestream technology
  • Client-facing skills through interaction with community members and event organizers
  • A deeper understanding of storytelling, event coverage, and cultural documentation

This is more than training—it’s capacity building for the next generation of media professionals.

What’s Next for the SCORE Interns?

Our team is already preparing for upcoming events, including the Domino Tournament & Car Show on June 7 at Consbeeracy Brewery in Hesperia California. These continued opportunities allow interns to expand their skills, build portfolios, and step into leadership roles as they support SCORE’s broader mission.
